A must-read book for those interested in Hybrid Intelligence Systems, Processes and Mechanisms
Last week, I embarked on a nostalgic journey! In my Data- and Information class at the University of Stavanger, Norway.
One of the pensum books is the newest February 2024 publication from Routledge, "Knowledge Management Systems and Processes in the AI Era."by Irma Becerra-Fernandez, Rajiv Sabherwal, and Richard Kumi.
Emerging at the beginning of the 1990s, knowledge management is
today a well-established school of thought with its own dedicated consulting companies, journals, and management gurus.
However, the problem with knowledge management is that most companies struggle
to make it work (Birkinshaw, 2001)
The main problem with traditional knowledge management is that its focus is mainly on capturing and storing information, but does not deliver on the knowledge-sharing and distribution promise (Nag, 2022)
Now, with the advent of AI and new collective intelligence sharing platforms, knowledge management may be experiencing a fascinating resurgence, unlocking new possibilities for data analysis, information accessibility, and collaborative intelligence.
The last week's class session proved particularly inspiring, reminding me of the enduring importance of managing knowledge effectively. In the AI era of ever-expanding information, equipping students with the tools to navigate and leverage this knowledge empowers them to become valuable assets in any field.
